For more than 30 years, UMA Solar has been a preeminent force in the solar industry. From its beginnings in the plastic over-molding industry to today’s domination of the solar thermal market, UMA Solar continues to meet the nation’s solar needs.
As with many great organizations, UMA Solar began with a simple idea; to use existing plastic over-molding technology to create a seamless, leak-proof solar collector. Sio Shatzky, of MAGEN eco-ENERGY, turned his mind to the task and in 1977 developed the original Heliocol collector. Through the efforts of his partner, Victor Eyal, Heliocol collectors were soon distributed throughout the world. The men later joined forces with Roger Eschenroeder, of UMA Inc. in Florida and tackled the U.S. market. Later incorporated as UMA Solar in Florida, the company rapidly became a dominant force in the solar thermal industry.
“Within a decade, we went from being the ‘new kids on the block’ to being the largest manufacturer and distributor of polymer solar collectors in the U.S. and the world,” says Victor Eyal, President and CEO of UMA Solar.
“They were a triple-threat team,” says Remo Eyal, UMA Solar COO. “By combining innovative technology, high-quality service and efficient distribution methods, UMA Solar took over the world of solar pool heating.”
In the ensuing years, UMA Solar’s reputation for quality and service led to multiple flagship projects including all solar pool installations for the last three Olympics since the 1996 Summer Olympics of Atlanta. As UMA Solar’s clientele grew in both scope and numbers, the company began offering a compliment of other solar energy solutions, including solar domestic hot water heating systems, photovoltaic kits and, most recently, solar preheating technology for large-scale commercial and industrial operations.
These additional product lines, combined with UMA Solar’s complete, turnkey solutions for all things solar, have made the company a national leader. Five strategically-located distribution centers and a national network of more than 700 partners ensure constant, continuous and convenient support of UMA Solar’s products.
Today, UMA Solar’s ongoing research and development initiatives continue to focus on innovation in the solar thermal market, particularly on large-scale solar preheating.
“Solar thermal energy is sustainable not only as an energy source, but as a business model,” says COO Remo Eyal.
The solar thermal technology currently offered through the company is affordable enough to provide immediate economic and environmental benefits without subsidies, he explains.
“Subsidies are great in the short term to launch products or to shorten the time to market, but they should never be relied upon to sustain the business,” he says. “We plan to grow even when the excitement of subsidies goes away.”
In 2011, the company will introduce a revolutionary new flat plate solar collector for potable hot water in commercial and residential installations. In late 2012, UMA Solar will launch another technological innovation that will further increase its penetration into the commercial and residential solar hot water market.
UMA Solar is driven by a vision, both short term and long term, of yielding sustainable, positive results for its partners, clients and the environment. By communicating clearly, listening closely and responding quickly, UMA Solar continually builds a feeling of trust and loyalty among its partners and clientele.
Growing a successful solar business is just a click or phone call away.
